Concept Systems Incorporated ("CSI", later known as Uniquest),
Co-founder and Senior VP, 1974-1989.
- Grew the Company to be largest vertical market systems company serving the Retail
Industry and one of the 100 largest vertical market companies in the US (approximately
$20 million in software sales in 1988). Products installed in over 120 large retail
chains and about 100 major universities.
- Responsible for Research and Development, Custom Programming, Technical Services, Point
of Sale and Product Management Departments, as well as Sales and Marketing
responsibility for over $5 million POS and $6 million communications systems annual
revenue attainment.
- Designed and developed all of the company's initial products as multi-dimensional
relational database applications, and was responsible for all product development
and support.
- Successfully directed the migration of products to IBM VM & MVS & to UNIX environments.
- Introduced two-four new or completely revised modules per year.
- Managed numerous major customization and integration programming projects (many over
$1 million in software changes).
- Performed on-site audits and developed action plans for critical accounts.
- Staffed, trained and managed from one half to two thirds of the Company's personnel.
- Built Hotline, Product Management, R & D, and Technical Services Departments.
- Managed the computer operations; evaluated and selected the development environment.
- Wrote and met the annual Product Plan and wrote (with the President) the Company's
annual Business Plan.
- Built a distribution network for a protocol
conversion intelligent data-comm switch.
- Served as interface to a suitor company in a failed attempt to acquire CSI. Served
on the Board of Directors; assisted in the successful acquisition and integration
of AIS, Inc.; Assisted in the acquisition of initial venture investment ($2 million)
in 1976 and secondary debenture ($.75 million) in 1978. Through BellSouth/others funding, CSI
became Uniquest in 1990.
